Obsidian Control Systems, in partnership with distributor Live Technology, successfully showcased its latest lighting control innovations at PLASA 2025, held from September 7–9 at Olympia London. Visitors experienced first hand the cutting-edge developments in control hardware, data distribution, and software that continue to define Obsidian’s leadership in the entertainment technology sector.

Among the highlights was the debut of the NX W, a sleek and portable PC control wing designed to deliver professional-grade ONYX operation via USB-C. The NX W impressed attendees with its responsive hardware surface, featuring motorized RGB-backlit faders, low-latency optical buttons, and customizable multi-function controls. With integrated DMX/RDM ports and a 16-universe ONYX license (upgradeable to 128), the NX W brings powerful and intuitive control to any PC-based lighting setup.
Obsidian also unveiled new additions to its award-winning NETRON data distribution range, including the industry’s first IP66-rated signal devices built for demanding entertainment environments. The EN6 IP EtherDMX Node, RDM6 IP DMX/RDM Splitter, and NS8 IP managed POE Switch drew attention for their rugged die-cast construction, impact-resistant coatings, and IP-rated ports. These units are engineered for reliability in challenging conditions and offer advanced touch controls for streamlined operation.
In addition to hardware innovations, Obsidian presented the latest version of its popular lighting control software, ONYX 4.32, which includes enhanced features for both NX consoles and PC systems. The update was well received by users seeking greater flexibility and performance in their lighting workflows.
Obsidian reaffirmed its commitment to education and training by promoting its global in-person sessions and free online courses. Attendees learned about the “Get Connected” NETRON networking course and were encouraged to register for upcoming training opportunities via the Obsidian website.
PLASA 2025 marked another successful chapter for Obsidian Control Systems, as the company continues to empower lighting professionals with innovative tools and expert support.
